Reaching the end of usefulness......

........ all in all a most unpleasant thought.
I experienced the weirdest emotion today - I felt sadness taking our Rover 75 Connoisseur to the ATF (authorised treatment facility - the place you go when, according to gov.uk, your vehicle has reached the end of its usefulness) to have it put to sleep.
It is strange how something which still drove beautifully well and looked so good could possibly have deteriorated in value to the point where it was worth less than the cost of repairing her but that was the reality. She had reached the end of her usefulness so she had to go..
The silver lining is that recycling our car will apparently save 1.25 tons of iron ore, 1400 pounds of coal and 120 pounds of limestone, 13/14 tons of steel, 39,090 gallons of water.
RIP - you served us well.
