Juxtaposition of travel

Having arrived back from a trip to Seoul on the weekend where I met old 'new' friends and some wonderful new people, stayed in a luxurious hotel and eaten beef the likes of which I have never had the pleasure of before, I got to thinking about travel and how fortunate we are to be able to travel at, and for, our leisure whilst refugees are forced to leave their countries and travel but without any of the glamour, enjoyment or indulgence.

I thought the best way to capture my thoughts and reinforce, for me, how lucky I am, was to juxtapose our travel versus the travel, and conditions, they must endure to .achieve the safety and sanctuary they so desperately require.

Never again will I complain about a queue at immigration, a room that doesn't quite pass muster or a flight that has been delayed. Today's thought will, I hope, have made me a more accepting and appreciative person.

In memory of little Aylin Kurdin - RIP sweet, dear boy.
