Enough blue....

How nice of the sun to show it's face for my birthday - just the 4th time since I started posting!

A cacophony of sayings rushed through my head as I passed my tree today starting with 'Enough blue for a sailor's suit' - for perfectly obvious reasons.

The last of which as I exited my Oak field was 'Only as strong as the weakest link'. This prompted by a birthday chat with my mother this morning. Conversation turned to the NHS and other institutions geared to care in the UK as it would on your birthday.

People often ask what on earth made us stay in the UK having come from Australia for a holiday - the answer lies in the care that the UK extends to those in need. Our son would have been much the 'poorer' had we returned to Australia after our holiday. We will be ever thankful for all the talented, and in many cases, selfless people who have provided our Ben with such a nurturing environment and the opportunity to develop to his fullest potential.

A wonderful sense of community still exists in this country, one which is far more difficult to find in many of the other countries I have lived in (or visited for extended periods of time) and long may that last.

It is our moral imperative to ensure that all those who are not able, through no fault of their own, to enjoy the privileges and benefits the rest of us are lucky enough to.

A society is only as strong as its weakest link and I for one believe that the strength of the UK can largely be attributed to its attitude to those least fortunate in society.

Thank you all my friends for your birthday wishes - I love you all and miss those of you I don't see often enough xxx
