Happy Birthday Papa George

My Dad, Papa George (Paps for short) as I called him, would have turned 88 today. He died young in 1995.

I thought of him today as I crossed the field - of his zest for life, his thirst for knowledge, his love and tolerance of people and situations.

I feel sorry that he only ever met one of his grandchildren. Not for him, but for my children and my brother's children. He would have made a fabulous grandparent - firing their enthusiasm and creative thoughts. encouraging them to always give of their best, to be free of thought and spirit, urging them to experiment and to always think the best of others until something otherwise dictated.

He was like this as a father to us and without the burden of parental expectation imagine these characteristics would only have been magnified!

He was a good man and I miss him. Happy Birthday Paps xxx

P.S. As he always sort more from everything in life I am adding another Oak in memory of his birthday today.
