Today was the first day for a long while that the sun actually had a warming effect and I marvelled at how good it felt on my face and back as I walked. Massively uplifting to feel the heat again..
Warmer weather has a very positive effect on our health, and disposition, and here's why.
Get More Sunlight - sunlight exposure increases your body’s vitamin D levels. Vitamin D can prevent cancer, provide higher energy levels, and keep your bones strong and healthy. And even though Vitamin D is so important for your health, researchers at Central Washington University claim that 77% of people are vitamin D deficient because they don’t get enough sunlight.
Get Physical - research shows that we are more inclined to physical activity, particularly outdoors, when the weather is warmer. You don't need me to tell you the benefits of exercise.
Improves Your Memory - research shows that our overall alertness & mental performance is at its best when your body temperature is high. Try playing a memory game like pairs or scrabble when your teeth are chattering!
Less Likely to Kill You - the death rate in colder climes is higher than in warmer. This has changed as our ability to keep warm in cold winters has improved but is still higher.
Better for Your Heart & Lungs. - cold weather can have a negative impact on your health, especially your heart and respiratory system. When your body works to regulate heat, your blood pressure can increase to unhealthy levels, causing long-term damage.
Bring on the sun and warmth - I am ready for it!
