Alternative facts - doubling down on spin?

It is a sad indictment of the world today that we now have facts and alternative facts sitting side by side as acceptable in many eyes.

How much more difficult is it to educate young people to tell 'the truth, whole truth, and nothing but the truth' when the current POTUS and his advisers regularly make use of alternative facts to cover their already lying arses.

Trump's running tally of the bald-faced lies, exaggerations and deceptions since becoming the president of the United States of America now tallies 114 in the space of 46 days - more than 2 a day!!

Spin on the other hand is a form of propaganda, achieved through providing a biased interpretation of an event or campaigning to persuade public opinion in favour, or against, some organisation or public figure.

Nevertheless both are ultimately designed to achieve the same objective - to attempt to alter perception and unfavourable reality.

While the difference is subtle there is a difference. An alternative fact is a complete misrepresentation of the truth whilst spin is the use of a distortion of the truth.

The use of alternative facts simply points to the lengths those who aspire to power are prepared to go to in order to achieve their ultimate objectives.

Alternatives facts are a doubling down on spin.

Where next?.
